Description of the original vehicle: In the beginning of the year 1938 the racing team of Auto Union had to face a difficult situation: The contract with Ferdinand Porsche was cancelled, and Bernd Rosemeyer was killed in an accident in January trying to break the speed world record.
Eberan von Eberhorst replaced Ferdinand Porsche as designer. And “Il Diavolo“ Tazio Nuvolari could be won as successor for the national hero Rosemeyer.
The “Flying man from Mantua” who got his nicknames due to his spectacular style of driving won the Grand Prix of Italy and England in an Auto Union Type D in 1938.
A real highlight for the Auto Union racing team in 1939 was its great triumphs at the Grand Prix in France on July 9, 1939. H.P. Müller won a sensational victory in his Auto Union Type D with starting number 12. It was the first GP championship in his career. His teammate Georg “Schorsch” Meier finished second with starting number 14 (M-090), thus securing a dual victory for the trademark The Four Rings. CMC recreated both cars as limited editions, each with 1,500 pieces worldwide.

Voiture ayant remporté le GP de France de 1938 elle est indispensable dans une collection. La réalisation est comme d’habitude sans reproche. Merci et bravo à CMC.
