Description of the original vehicle: In the 1950s, Daimler-Benz built two 300 SL 225 HP roadsters for the US, especially for the open sports car class. Her toughest competitors were the Aston Martin DB 3S, the Ferrari Monza and the Maserati 300 S.
Prominent racing driver Paul O'Shea won all major races in the USA with his 300 SLS. At the end of the 1957 season O'Shea reached the first place. And with three times more points than a counterpart Shelby on the Maserati 300 S.
In the area of the 300 SL Sport use, the two 300 SLS were the only exception in the USA racing scene.
