Description of the original vehicle: After the first races with the Ferrari 312P Spyder version, which achieved beside a 2nd place in Sebring not many top positions, Ferrari presented by the end of April 1969 a new Ferrari 312P version. This new version became designed right from the start as a Berlinetta with a fix roof to achieve a far better aerodynamic.
At the race in Spa-Francorchamps, the 312P finished at the 2nd place. The following races, like the 1,000 km of the Nürburgring, and the 24h of Le Mans, where Ferrari used the 312P as well, bad luck stroke. The Ferraris had retire the races because of accidents and technical problems.
So even if the 312P Berlinetta was not one of the most successful Ferrari race cars, it was definitely one of the most beautiful ones that ever hit the race track.
