product description

A masterpiece of architecture model: M-108 CMC Maserati 300S #1 24H Le Mans, France, 1958

The CMC miniature recaptures the original looks of the car in the 1958 Le Mans race at la Sarthe, France. Noticeable is the missing headrest, which was not installed until several years later. The miniature also comes with an additional cover of the co-pilot seat.
In line with the Le Mans rules and special racing requirements, the original car was equipped with additional head lamps, a different exhaust pipe system, a wiper for the driver’s wind shield, reinforced tires, and several illuminating lamps. All these changes were uncompromisingly realized in CMC very special limited edition.

  • A centerpiece, the detailed recreation of the husky 6-cylinder in-line-engine that is complete with wiring and cabeling
  • The functional doors, and removable bonnet and trunck lid. The seats and head rest are upholstered in genuine leather.
  • The Spartan cockpit interior is typical of the racing cars from that era
Description of the original vehicle: One of the highlights of the 300S with chassis number 3066 (re-numbered as 3056 later) was, of course, its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 22, 1958. With starting number 1 and with the owner Francisco Godia-Sales and his co-pilot Joakim Bonnier in the cockpit, the vehicle held on to a promising lead until lap 142, when much to the disappointment of its drivers and whole crew, the car came to a premature stop abruptly. Electrical problems had caused it to lose power on a title chase which had gone on well so far.

Technical data of the original vehicle:
  1. Motor: 6-cylinder in-line-engine
  2. Bore x stroke: 84 x 90 mm
  3. Maximum output: 260 hp at 6,500 rpm
  4. Top speed: approx. 280 km/h
  5. two-seat sports spyder with aluminium body and tubular space frame
  6. right hand drive
  7. Wheel base: 2,310 mm
  8. Track front: 1,300 mm
  9. Track rear: 1,250 mm
  10. Construction period / quantity: 1955-1959 / 26(27)
